Focused Ultrasound

What is Focused Ultrasound?

Focused Ultrasound is a non-invasive treatment that targets the deeper layers of the face to achieve a lifting and tightening effect across the jowls, chin and lower face. The ultrasound waves are focused onto the SMAS (the gravitational fibro-muscular layer that supports the lower face called the Superficial Musculoaponeurotic System) to tighten and contract it through thermal coagulation.

The ultrasound then moves through the layers of the skin from deep to superficial delivering intense thermal energy that is used to regenerate the skin’s collagen and elastin. Focused Ultrasound is particularly effective for tightening the lower face and reducing sagging in the skin.

How It Works:

•Ultrasound Energy:Ituses focused ultrasound waves to penetrate the skin at specific depthsto create heat energy. This energy heatsand contractsthe tissues, stimulating the production of new collagen and elastinregenerating and tightening the skin.•Deep Skin Tightening:Focused ultrasoundtreatmentselectivelytargets the Superficial Musculoaponeurotic System (SMAS), which is the same layertightenedduring surgical facelifts. The energy hits the SMAS, creates tightening and contraction of the SMASresultingin a natural liftingand firming of the skin.

Benefits of Focused Ultrasound:

Non-Surgical Facelift: Provides a lifting effect without the need for surgery.Ideal for lower face jowling and sagging.

Long-Lasting Results: The results continue to improve over several months as new collagen is producedover time.

No Downtime: Patients can resume their normal activities immediately after treatment.

Natural Results: Enhances the skin’s natural collagen production for a subtle, natural-looking lift.

FAQ

Focused Ultrasound targets deep layers of the skin using focused ultrasound waves. These waves generate heat at specific depths, stimulating collagen production and causing tissue contraction. This process helps to lift and tighten the skin naturally without damaging the surface.

Focused Ultrasound has virtually no downtime, with some patients experiencing slight redness or swelling that resolves quickly.

Focused Ultrasound is normally only one to two sessions, depending on desired results and initial skin quality and laxity. It needs follow-up treatments yearly to maintain results.

Focused Ultrasound can be used on various parts of the face and body. Common treatment areas include the forehead, eyes, cheeks, neck, jawline, and décolleté. These treatments can also be effective for tightening skin on the arms, abdomen, and thighs.

Focused Ultrasound may cause a warm or tingling sensation and a feeling like jaw ache or dental pain whilst it is being delivered. It is generally well-tolerated without the need for anaesthesia.
