Dr Johanna Ward

First Timers Guide

It’s natural to feel apprehensive about your first aesthetic treatment if you are new to the tweakment world

The most important thing you need to do is to find a safe and kind practitioner who will listen to your concerns and guide you honestly and transparently. At our clinic, you’ll find a small, close-knit team of passionate professionals led by Dr. Johanna Ward—a dedicated leader in medical aesthetics with a deep commitment to excellence, safety, and natural-looking results.

Every member of our team is highly skilled and extensively trained, with over 10 years of hands-on experience in aesthetic and cosmetic medicine. We share the same philosophy: treatments should enhance your natural beauty, never mask it, while maintaining a strong focus on medical integrity and patient care.

It’s important to know that social media often exaggerates myths and misconceptions around treatments. Your initial consultation will be thorough, giving you the time to voice any fears or concerns. Many people worry that they will look “done” or unnatural after treatment. This couldn’t be further from the truth. When treatments are performed by experienced practitioners in a thoughtful way, they are not detectable—most patients simply look refreshed and wonderful.

People who appear overfilled or frozen have often had excessive work performed by practitioners who haven’t prioritised a natural aesthetic. It is always possible to deliver beautiful results that preserve your unique features.

Our team is committed to ensuring you feel confident and comfortable throughout your journey. Dr. Ward herself, now in her late 40s, is happy to share her own tips for maintaining skin health and wellbeing. And whether you are seeing Dr. Ward or one of our other skilled clinicians, you can be assured you are in safe, expert hands.

If you are nervous about experiencing any pain, we can use numbing cream and ice to help you feel more at ease. Often, the first time is the most worrying because you don’t know what to expect. As patients become more confident, they find treatments much easier and more comfortable.

You are always welcome to ask for a chaperone. This will be a female member of the clinic team who can sit in on your consultation or treatment. You are also welcome to bring a friend or family member for extra support. Please just let us know if you’d like a chaperone or wish to bring someone along by emailing info@drjohannaward.co.uk.

“It was my very first time seeing Dr Jo but she couldn’t have been more kind and caring. I’d had a bad experience at another clinic so was more apprehensive than most. We had along chat about things and I felt reassured and listened to. Now I am one of her regulars!”
